I bow before you, my hidden but beloved God, as I begin this day. An alarm rings in my heart to awaken me to the fact that I am a pilgrim who travels a sacred path. I now answer that call to mindfulness, as I prepare to enter into silent prayer. I join myself with all who are in prayer at this sacred hour when the earth once again faces its source of life, the sun. I now turn fully to face you, O God, the source of the universe and of my life, as I enter into silence.

With fidelity I have tried to still my restless heart in you the divine source of all I am. May this effort bear fruit by my living more fully in the present moment this day. I join my voice to all the awakening sounds of the earth at this hour, as I pray.

This summer day is growing warmer as we turn to face the fullness of our daystar, the sun. Plants, animals and we humanfolk are all solar-powered in the marvel of your clever creation. May this morning prayer give me the energy to act at all times this day with love and kindness. May I treat each person and each living being as a brother or sister, as a member of your sacred family. I pray now for these personal needs:_______, and for the special needs this day of:_______.
May the business of this Tuesday never eclipse my real work as a pilgrim on the sacred path. Open my eyes and ears to the miracles you have hidden along my path this day. Let my mind find its joy in the present moment, the only place where you dwell.

O Holy Parent, in the magnificent splendor of its setting the sun has slipped from my view, as the earth turns outward on its ageless journey among the stars. As we drink in the coolness of the eternal night of space, those in another part of this earth are rejoicing in the warmth of the sun on a new winter day. One with those who are awakening as well as those who prepare for sleep, I enter now into silent prayer.

My heart was full of the cares of this day as I returned again and again to the stillness of your presence within me. Cleanse my heart of any thoughts that might separate me from others so that I may be one in you. I pause to take inventory of the gift of this day of life....
May the coolness of your touch heal all that is broken and mend all that is divided, as I express my praise in this prayer.

While darkness hides the light of the sun, the earth retains the warmth of its solar fires. May my heart likewise retain the fire of your love as I prepare to close my eyes in sleep. As this summer day ends, I place before you these needs:_______. I pray as well for those who face this night with fear and dread and for all who end this day hungry, alone or prisoners of pain. May the sun of your justice rise on all who suffer from oppression, slavery or the hatred of their brothers and sisters.
Come, Beloved of my heart. Be with me in sleep, that I may rise in glory. As I prepare to end this day, I look forward to the restoring prayer of tomorrow, when I shall greet a new day one with you.
